Outstanding Achievements of Design Engineer Apprentice
The outstanding achievements of Pryor design engineer apprentice Niall Dawson have been recognised in this article by The Apprenticeship Guide and in the July issue Production Engineering Solutions. Niall began his apprenticeship with Pryor through the AMRC Training Centre in March 2017.
He is now a fully-fledged member of the Pryor design team and a shining example of AMRC training expertise.
Niall was lead design engineer in a two-year project to redesign the assembly process for Pryor’s range of standard machinery range, all manufactured at the company’s historic headquarters in Sheffield City Centre.
The success of the project is clear, with savings of £50,000-a-year and product build time reduction of over 60%.
The project saw a redesign of the assembly cells to improve the availability of parts and tools to the assembly team, a key element in the overall build time reduction. Furthermore, simplification of the assembly process is enabling a larger pool of employees to contribute to flexible working across the business.
Huge congratulations to Niall from everyone at Pryor.
