Reset Procedure on Pryor Controllers
Detailed below is the procedure on how to conduct resets on Pryor Controllers. At times the controller memory may become corrupted resulting in the controller not booting up correctly. On these types of occasions it would be advisable to try the following procedures before going any further. There is no guarantee that the resets will cure any Problems on the controllers, but they are a good starting point before going any further with fault diagnosis. There are two levels of resets:
Soft Reset
Conducting a Soft Reset will reset the machine to factory settings but will retain its layouts and logos in the memory. Machine settings which have been changed from the original factory default settings will be reset to the factory settings.
It is therefore worth noting any special machine settings, for example communications setup, special timings or global serialisations.
A backup can be conducted prior to reset, however there is always the risk this will also back up any corruption in the controller and be transferred.
Hard Reset
Conducting a Hard Reset will totally wipe the memory of the controller. It will reset all the defaults and clear the machine's memory.
If a Soft Reset doesn’t work then the last resort would be a Hard Reset.
NB A Hard Reset will remove all layouts and logos.
A backup can be conducted, however there is always the risk this will also back up any corruption in the controller and be transferred.
Procedure
Begin with the controller turned off:
- Turn on the controller, while it is powering up hold down the F9 key.
- Hold the F9 key until you are asked for a password.
- Type in either SOFT RESET or HARD RESET dependant on the reset level you want to conduct. (Capital letters default on).
- Once the password is typed in press the Enter key and follow the on screen instructions.
